Still Friends

Despite difficult times due to cuts 'Friends' has been busy ensuring the children who use Maplewood House continue to have a great time during their visits. Over the past year your generous donations have helped to fund pantomime visits including Snow White at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, a christmas party, trips out including Tubing sessions at Pendle Ski Club and we continue to save up for our outdoor play area.

Climbing mountains for disabled children

Maplewood staff, friends and families On SATURDAY 26th JUNE a group of Maplewood House staff, friends and parents will climb Ben Nevis to raise funds for an outdoor activity area for Maplewood accessible for all abilities and promoting interactive play.

Examples of the kinds of equipment which will be part of the activity area include musical equipment, a sandpit, sensory and motor skill equipment, mirrors and much, much more.

Tailored and accessible activity equipment is important to promote the well-being and development of disabled children while having fun. It also helps the staff to do the excellent work they do in supporting families with disabled children.

Friends of Maplewood would welcome sponsorship from individuals and companies for the Ben Nevis event and/or sponsors for individual pieces of equipment.

Easter Rally 2010

What a fantastic day it turned out to be!

Our loyal and long-standing supporters, the North West Harley Club, turned out in force to visit the children of Maplewood bringing Easter eggs with them.

The weather forecasts were awful for the weekend but spirits were not dampened. Staff and members of Friends trimmed up regardless at Maplewood and the bikers rolled in.

The sun shone and so did the bikes gleaming in the sunlight.

The children beamed with delight too.

Such a brilliant day some had to wear sunglasses!

A BIG THANKYOU to all our Harley Friends for a great day and all your support.

Welcome
